Gene therapy, known as human gene transfer, involves introducing new genetic materials into the body to tackle disorders such as cystic fibrosis, anaemia, Alzheimer’s and cancer. To support Malaysia's advancement in the field of medical genetics, Dr. Catheryn Lim would like to collaborate with organisations with an interest in gene therapy, to organise a virtual seminar on genetic treatments for neuromuscular diseases.
Dr. Catheryn Lim is the Co-founder and Research Director of ISOgenix Limited and Visiting Academic cum Lecturer in Neuroscience at the University of Oxford, Dr. Catheryn Lim received her Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics and Biochemistry from the University of New South Wales, Australia. Her current work focuses on developing genetic and gene therapies for neuromuscular diseases.
The proposed seminar will focus on the latest advancements in genetic therapy and its applications in treating neuromuscular diseases. Drawing from her extensive experience, Dr. Lim will provide insights into the field of medical genetics, fostering the growth of Malaysia’s biotechnology ecosystem and inspiring the next generation of biotechnology professionals.
