Collaboration

Collaboration without borders

Amazing Malaysian talents can be found in all corners of the globe, and a recent study conducted by TalentCorp found that a high percentage of Malaysian talents abroad would like to contribute their expertise to the development of Malaysia without returning to the country.

That’s why MyHeart Collaboration was introduced. Since its inception we’ve had many success stories together with Malaysians abroad, promoting brain circulation by connecting them with collaboration opportunities to benefit Malaysia.

Why MyHeart Collaboration?

MyHeart Collaboration plays a crucial role in supporting the Malaysian workforce and Malaysia’s ever-growing need of skilled talents with global experience. By connecting Malaysian talents abroad with local stakeholders, Malaysia stands to gain invaluable insights on your skills and experiences via partnership on different projects.

Preserving Cultural Heritage

Batik is a traditional art that is an integral part of Malaysian heritage. Known for its distinctive patterns and vibrant colors, it holds significant cultural and artistic value.

During the Salam Dari Malaysia Programme held by TalentCorp in London on 15th June 2024, Shirlyn organised a group batik painting activity and showcased her own original batik art pieces. This activity welcomed all programme attendees interested in trying their hand at batik painting. It also provided a great opportunity for fellow Malaysians to learn about the craft from Shirlyn, who shared her love and passion for batik art.

The collaboration highlighted Shirlyn’s dedication and enthusiasm in promoting the beauty of Malaysian heritage. It also served as a platform to cultivate interest among Malaysians abroad who may not have much knowledge or prior experience with batik painting. For this collaboration, Shirlyn designed a unique batik piece featuring the MyHeart logo as the centerpiece, surrounded by colorful floral motifs with intertwining vines and abstract symbols.

Shirlyn plans to continue participating in exhibitions to showcase her batik artwork and increase awareness of Malaysian heritage, with hopes of participating in the upcoming London Craft Week.

Samantha Chong

In 2022, we collaborated with KL City Opera and organised a masterclass with Samantha Chong, a Malaysian mezzo-soprano based in Hong Kong

Objective

To develop the performing arts scene in Malaysia via a collaboration with a leading name in classical Italian opera.

Format of the masterclass

The masterclass was held over 2 days, where 4 participants were selected to perform an aria or duet. Samantha then provided verbal and demonstrative feedback to each participant for 7-9 minutes each, which included song and scene interpretation, and stage presence.

Outcome

Samantha made a conscious effort to focus her sharing NOT on singing, but on the various aspects of performance, something that Malaysian performers lacked. So, MyCollabs acted as a medium for her to guide the students in navigating the world of classical opera, including dealing with different stakeholders like conductors, music directors and repetiteurs.

The students, on the other hand, received a rare opportunity to undergo a masterclass conducted by a seasoned performer for free. They could then use the knowledge they gained to enhance their opera skills and hopefully, pursue a career as full-time professional opera singers, something which is a rarity in Asia.
