In a world constantly seeking better solutions for health and wellness, Dr. Latt Mansor stands at the forefront of metabolic research. His work spans continents and industries, exemplifying a commitment to making science accessible and impactful. Today, his efforts reach people across the globe, from elite athletes to everyday individuals eager to improve their health.
Global Expertise and Cutting-Edge Research
Dr. Latt’s approach to health stems from diverse experiences that have taken him across continents and industries. After completing his DPhil in Physiology, Anatomy, and Genetics at the University of Oxford, he began his career with ViTA Solutions, a UK-based consulting company. One of his key projects took him to Berlin, Germany, where he focused on improving rehabilitation outcomes in health systems. This exposure to healthcare challenges in different regions helped him recognise the global nature of health problems and how solutions could be tailored to meet local needs.
Later, in Singapore, Dr. Latt took on a business development role at Holmusk, where he led projects focused on diabetes management and worked closely with major healthcare organisations such as SingHealth and the National Heart Centre Singapore. These roles deepened his understanding of regional health issues and equipped him with the leadership skills necessary to bridge the gap between scientific research and practical application in the field.
In 2019, Dr. Latt moved to San Francisco, joining HVMN as Research Lead. At HVMN, he oversees various innovative projects, from optimising heart health and treating sleep apnea to working with the International Space Station to explore how their products can fuel astronauts. “We’re working on grants for heart failure, sleep apnea, and even for the International Space Station to see how our product can fuel astronauts,” he explains.
Expanding Health Education through Digital Platforms
The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic altered how people lived and learned about their health. For Dr. Latt, this period became an opportunity to shift his focus from the lab to digital platforms, making his expertise accessible to a global audience.
“I started generating a lot of educational content, particularly around metabolism, metabolic health, and ketone metabolism,” Dr. Latt shares. This outreach resonated with people worldwide, leading his Instagram following to grow from 2,000 to over 180,000. His goal was to make complex health information engaging and easy to understand. “The biggest challenge has been making educational content fun, but it’s also what makes the work so rewarding,” he adds.
In addition to Instagram, Dr. Latt also became the main host of the HVMN podcast, providing in-depth discussions on metabolic health and human performance. His ability to simplify dense scientific research into actionable insights made him a trusted voice in the wellness community.
Improving Malaysia’s Health Future
While Dr. Latt’s reach is global, his connection to Malaysia remains strong. His personal experiences—losing his father to a stroke and witnessing his mother struggle with diabetes—fuel his passion for improving health outcomes in Malaysia, particularly in addressing chronic diseases. “A significant portion of my followers are from Southeast Asia, including Malaysia,” he notes, reflecting how his content resonates with audiences from his home country.
Dr. Latt sees great potential in platforms like the MyHeart Portal, which connects Malaysians abroad. “It’s good for people who use it – to connect Malaysians from overseas,” he says.
His long-term goal is to apply the knowledge and innovations he has gained through his global work to help tackle Malaysia’s health challenges. Whether through diabetes education or researching cardiovascular solutions, Dr. Latt is determined to contribute to improving health outcomes in his home country.
Future Focused on Health and Collaboration
Looking ahead, Dr. Latt is committed to further expanding his digital outreach and collaborating with health professionals. “I’m excited to work with Malaysian content creators and healthcare professionals,” he shares, highlighting his dedication to strengthening health literacy in Malaysia and other parts of the world.
His vision includes securing grants for research on chronic conditions like diabetes and cardiovascular diseases, areas that are major public health concerns in Malaysia. Dr. Latt sees his work not as isolated but as part of a more significant effort to make health information and solutions more accessible globally. “I’m committed to pushing forward with this work, no matter where I am,” he concludes.
